What is Rapid Games Design?

Rapid Games Design, created by Prof Bruce Lankford and developed with Joanne Craven, uses board game components to help engage with complex issues quickly and effectively by building games about them.

The workshop starts with rapidfire warm-up exercises, then participants work in groups to create games tailored to the workshop topic. Afterwards, we analyse the games. What’s been learned? What can we take forward? What is missing?

It’s not about the games (we usually don’t play them). It’s about what we learn by prototyping games together.
